Our Story

Laura Calvet
Laura is the Founder of Burger Hive restaurants group where all burgers, Miami style come to life. After graduating with a culinary arts degree, Laura worked in the Phoenix, Arizona, area at the Camelback Inn Resort & Spa and Christopher Gross's Fermier Brasserie.
She returned to the Miami area, with a job as garde manger at Jean-Georges Vongerichten's Vong. While working at Vong, Laura met future Top Chef contestant Dale Talde and Heather Shouse, with whom she would later co-author the cookbook "Girl in the Kitchen: How a Top Chef Cooks, Eats, and Drinks"

George Manning
George Manning was born in Brooklyn NY, where his parents read him sarcastic quips from Zagat before bed, and he adopted a lifestyle of eating pizza and burgers that continues to this day.
When his family moved to Greenwich, Connecticut, Matt quickly picked up playing lacrosse, which in retrospect was a solid ten years of training to use a pizza peel. After college in Rhode Island, George moved to Miami, enrolled at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) and has been cooking ever since.
